Pom Pom Camp is named for the Island on which it is built, and is in a private concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta, and neighbours the magnificent Moremi Wildlife Reserve. As the island is at the head waters of the Xudum River system, the Camp enjoys good water levels year round. The scenery is incredible, and the experience will evoke memories for years to come.
True to the concept of low impact on this fragile environment, Pom Pom accommodates only 18 guests. There are nine luxury safari tents, designed in traditional safari style, all with full en-suite semi open ablution facilities. The Camp’s main building is attractively designed and is constructed of thatch and canvas. It comprises the lounge, dining, bar and pool areas, as well as a gift shop and the Boma (outdoor eating) area.
You can choose from a variety of activities, from game drives, nature walks, fishing and mokoro excursions. Night drives are also permitted as the Camp is outside the Reserve area. All game drives are conducted in 4x4 open Land Cruisers. Hippo and Crocodile are found in the deeper lagoons in the area, whilst birding enthusiasts will enjoy looking for the rare and magnificent Pel’s Fishing Owl, along with African Fish Eagle, Giant Eagle Owl and White Backed Vultures – to name but a few species who make the Delta their home. You will also have to chance to see a good variety of plains game, and their accompanying predator species.
